Carved lidded pot with purple bloom

A truly special piece that was thrown on the potter's wheel, carefully carved, and finally fired in a wood kiln for 14 hours. Made from a rich iron-bearing clay that responds to the flame, the surface is toasty and speckled. A small amount of copper in the glaze has produced soft blooms of deep purple in the reduction atmosphere. Subtle but interesting, this is one of my favourite pieces from this collection. 

Lined with a food-safe glze, this item is suitable for use in the kitchen or at the table if desired. 

Approximate dimensions: 8.5cm tall by 11.5cm diameter. 

 Gentle handwash recommended.
