Faceted lidded pot with wood ash

A unique lidded box made from stoneware clay. 

This piece was thrown on the potter's wheel before being faceted and carved when leather hard. Each surface, texture and edge is unique to the piece. The pot was fired for over 14 hours in a wood kiln with a combination of carefully developed glazes made from raw materials, iron oxide and wood ash. The wood firing creates natural variation in glaze colour and surface, with subtle ash deposits and flame markings adding to the complexity of the piece.

This pot is lined with a food-safe glaze and is perfect for use throughout the home: holding small keepsakes, jewellery, salt or spices, or simply as a standalone piece.
