Kurinuki box 2

A hand-carved kurinuki box made from stoneware clay and finished in a soft white glaze. 

Carved from a single semi-hardened block of clay using traditional Japanese kurinuki techniques, the form retains the marks of the tools and the shaping process. Each surface, texture and edge is unique to the piece. The wood firing adds natural variation in colour and surface, with subtle ash deposits and flame markings.

This box is lined with a food-safe glaze and is perfect for holding small objects, salt or spices, or simply as a standalone piece.
