Kurinuki box 1

Carved from a single semi-hardened block of clay using traditional Japanese kurinuki techniques, this box retains the marks of the tools and the shaping process. Each surface, texture and edge is unique to the piece. The wood firing adds natural variation in colour and surface, with ash and flame leaving marks on the clay. 

This box is lined with a food-safe glaze and is perfect for holding small objects, salt or spices, or simply as a standalone piece.
